Matto Mildenberger is assistant professor of political science at the University of California, Santa Barbara and co-runs the Energy and Environmental Transitions Lab at the university. His research explores the political drivers of policy inaction in the face of serious social and economic threats posed by global climate change. Straddling comparative political economy and political behavior, Mildenberger's work focuses on comparative climate policymaking and the dynamics of U.S. climate opinion. Mildenberger received his Ph.D. from Yale University’s School of Forestry and Environmental Studies in 2015 and previously he completed an M.A. in global governance at the University of Waterloo, and an Hon. B.S. in botany and international relations at the University of Toronto.
