Chancellor’s Professor of Economics

Emi Nakamura is Chancellor’s Professor of Economics at the University of California, Berkeley. She holds a Ph.D. from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Princeton University. Her research focuses on monetary and fiscal policy, business cycles, and macroeconomic measurement. She is a co-editor of the American Economic Review and has been on the editorial board of several other leading journals in economics. She is on the Congressional Budget Office’s Panel of Economic Advisers and the American Economics Association Committee on National Statistics. She has been a visiting professor at the University of Chicago, the MIT Economics Department at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and numerous central banks. She is a recipient of the National Science Foundation Career Grant, the Sloan Research Fellowship, and the Elaine Bennett Research Prize.
