Shailly Gupta Barnes

Shailly Gupta Barnes is the policy director at the Kairos Center. She has a B.A. in economics from the University of Chicago, a J.D. from UCLA School of Law, and an M.I.A. from Columbia’s School of International and Public Affair.

Caterina Mendicino

Caterina Mendicino is adviser in the Monetary Policy Directorate of the European Central Bank. Mendicino holds a Ph.D. from the Stockholm School of Economics.

Ettore Panetti

Ettore Panetti is a senior assistant professor (RTD-B) of finance at the Department of Economics and Statistics of the University of Naples Federico II. He holds a B.A. in economics from Bocconi University, an M.Sc. in economics from the University College London, and a Ph.D in economics from IIES-Stockholm University.

José-Luis Peydro

José-Luis Peydro is a professor of finance at Imperial College London. He holds a Ph.D and M.Sc. in finance from INSEAD and a masters in Economics from CEMFI.

Giovanni Violante

Gianluca Violante is the Theodore A. Wells ’29 Professor of Economics at Princeton University. He holds an M.A. and a Ph.D in economics from the University of Pennsylvania.

Amy Phillips

Amy Phillips is a former policy analyst for markets and competition policy at the Washington Center for Equitable Growth. Her areas of focus include hospital consolidation, healthcare market competition, health equity, and healthcare pricing and payment. Prior to Equitable Growth, she was a graduate fellow at Sirona Strategies, where she worked on two healthcare coalitions focused on acute care in the home and social determinants of health. Phillips also conducted health policy research in the office of Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-TX) focused on telehealth and Medicare policy. She also served as the healthcare chief of staff at Arnold Ventures and was a research assistant at the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission, conducting research on a wide range of Medicare payment policy issues. Phillips received her Master of Public Affairs from the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin and her B.A. in medical anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania.

Michael Madowitz

Michael Madowitz is the former director of macroeconomic policy at the Washington Center for Equitable Growth. His areas of research are macroeconomics, climate economics, energy markets, and the role of mothers and child care in the economy. Previously, he was a senior economist at the U.S. Congress’ Joint Economic Committee, after working in economic policy at the Center for American Progress, Resources for the Future, and the Brookings Institution. In addition, he serves on the Data Users Advisory Committee for the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Madowitz holds a doctoral candidate degree in economics and a master’s degree in applied mathematics from the University of California, San Diego, and an undergraduate degree in economics and international relations from Pomona College.

Laura Alexander

Laura Alexander is a former director of markets and competition policy at the Washington Center for Equitable Growth. Her primary areas of research include healthcare markets, private equity, residential real estate sales, privacy policy, and labor market monopsony. Prior to Equitable Growth, she was the vice president of policy at the American Antitrust Institute. Alexander also is an experienced litigator, having represented plaintiffs and defendants in antitrust and other cases through trial and appeals as an associate at Kirkland & Ellis LLP and as an associate and partner at Cohen Milstein Sellers & Toll PLLC. She received her J.D. from Georgetown University and her B.A. in mathematics from Reed College. Alexander is also an adjunct professor of law at Georgetown.

Chi Hyun Kim

Chi Hyun Kim is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bonn.
