Mary Beech is a visiting fellow at the Washington Center for Equitable Growth and a policy consultant and fellow at Workshop, specializing in AI and emerging technology. She served in the Biden-Harris administration as director of workers and technology policy at the U.S. Department of Labor, where she led initiatives to address the impact of AI and emerging technologies on workers’ rights and livelihoods. Previously, she served as tech division chief of staff and senior policy advisor at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and as chief of staff of the Employee Benefits Security Administration at the U.S. Department of Labor.
Before her government service, Beech worked at Third Sector Capital Partners, where she focused on transforming social service delivery through outcomes-based contracts and impact investing. She holds an M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a B.A. in economics from Tufts University.
