I tend to find myself confused on the current state of SSDI. Of those in my web of trust as far as empirical studies of public finance are concerned, David Autor and Mark Duggan seem definitely on the side of thinking that SSDI gets us relatively little value for our public money–or at least that a streamlined and somewhat less-easy to get onto program would have a greater benefit-cost ratio.
