Basil Halperin is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Stanford Digital Economy Lab. He joins the University of Virginia as an assistant professor of economics in the fall of 2025. His research focuses on topics in monetary economics, macroeconomic growth, and AI. Halperin completed his B.S. in mathematics, economics, and Chinese at the University of Chicago; and he completed his Ph.D. in economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
